Other Types
of Fraud
  • Phishing: Phishing occurs when a scammer uses the internet to deceive individuals and cause them to unwittingly surrender personal financial data like account numbers and passwords. Emails and counterfeit websites might look official, but really they're just another means that criminals use to steal your identity and take over your accounts.

Affinity does not send emails asking for your Member number or any other sensitive information. Any message you receive asking for this sort of information is likely to be false. The best way to defend against phishing scams is to stay alert, and to stay informed so that you don't get hooked!

  • Check Fraud: Using counterfeit, stolen and other bad checks has also become more and more common these days. Learn more about what you can do to protect yourself and prevent losses from check fraud.
