Foundation Activities
Whom Do We Serve?
The Affinity Federal Credit Union Foundation is proud to support a variety of community organizations. Below is a sampling of the groups with whom we work closely, and descriptions of how the Foundation helps to make a difference.
| Group | Activities |
|---|---|
| Matheny Medical and Education Center | Located in neighboring Peapack, NJ, the Matheny Medical and Educational Center is a residential facility for children and adults with multiple disabilities. The foundation contributes to Matheny financially, is active with their signature event, "Miles for Matheny", and is a proud supporter of their culturally creative Arts Access program. |
| The Midland School | Located in North Branch, NJ, The Midland School is a comprehensive special education program serving the individual social, emotional, academic, and career education needs of children and adults with developmental disabilities. Affinity is a corporate supporter of the Midland Foundation which contributes to the success of Midland programs. |
| Affinity Scholarship Programs | The foundation sponsors three scholarship programs. The first provides scholarships to graduating high school seniors who are members of Affinity. The Richard A. Romano Scholarship is open to a student either entering Rutgers University as a freshman, currently attending Rutgers, or is transferring into Rutgers from another college. The third financial award is a non-traditional student scholarship gifted to an institution of higher education. |
| Making It Possible to End Homelessness (MIPH) | Affinity's foundation reaches out to MIPH’s three programs - Amandla Crossing, a one-year transitional housing program that provides a community setting for homeless, single-parent women and their children, Imani Park a transitional housing program that offers individuals and families living with HIV/AIDS a beautiful apartment setting and support services, and MIPH's newest program opened in 2007, Irayna Court, a permanent supported housing program for young women ages 18 to 21 who have aged-out of the child welfare system. |
| Community Hope - Hope for Veterans | Hope for Veterans is a two-year transitional housing program to help veterans break the cycle of homelessness. In addition to providing our vets with the shelter they need, this program offers employment opportunities and recovery programs in order for them to rebuild their lives. |
| Bonnie Brae | Bonnie Brae, established in 1916, is located on a beautiful campus in Basking Ridge, NJ. It remains one of the nation's preeminent therapeutic learning environments for troubled adolescent boys who have been neglected, abused, or abandoned. |
| Morris County Organization for Hispanic Affairs | MCOHA's activities and programs center on transportation, home weatherization, personal computer training, social services, job counseling, immigration, citizenship, and health education. |
| Somerset Home for Temporarily Displaced Children | Somerset Home has been helping vulnerable youth throughout New Jersey since 1970. Their clients represent all socio-economic backgrounds, races and ethnicities, and each year more than 500 young people find the support they need in one of the six Somerset Home programs. |
| St. Clare's Hospital Foundation (Denville) and St. Peter's Healthcare System Foundation (New Brunswick) | Both of these organizations benefit from the generous support gifted through the Affinity Foundation. |
