Foundation Activities

Whom Do We Serve?

The Affinity Federal Credit Union Foundation is proud to support a variety of community organizations. Below is a sampling of the groups with whom we work closely, and descriptions of how the Foundation helps to make a difference.


Group Activities
Matheny Medical and Education Center

Located in neighboring Peapack, NJ, the Matheny Medical and Education Center is a residential facility for children and adults with multiple disabilities. Affinity contributes to Matheny financially, and is also very actively involved with their signature event, "Miles for Matheny." Affinity is also a proud supporter of Matheny's outstanding and culturally creative Arts Access program.

The Midland School

Located in North Branch, NJ, The Midland School is a comprehensive special education program serving the individual social, emotional, academic, and career education needs of children and adults with developmental disabilities. Affinity is a corporate supporter of the Midland Foundation which contributes to the success of Midland programs.

Affinity Scholarship Programs

The foundation sponsors three scholarship programs. The first provides scholarships to graduating high school seniors who are members of Affinity. The Richard A. Romano Scholarship is open to a student either entering Rutgers University as a freshman, currently attending Rutgers, or is transferring into Rutgers from another college. The third financial award is a non-traditional student scholarship gifted to an institution of higher education that will be selected by the foundation each year.

Making It Possible to End Homelessness (MIPH)

Affinity's foundation reaches out to MIPH's three programs - Amandla Crossing, a one-year transitional housing program that provides a community setting for homeless, single-parent women and their children; Imani Park a transitional housing program that offers individuals and families living with HIV/AIDS a beautiful apartment setting and support services; and MIPH's newest program opened in 2007, Irayna Court, a permanent supported housing program for young women ages 18 to 21 who are aging-out of the child welfare system.

Community Hope - Hope for Veterans

Hope for Veterans is a two-year transitional housing program to help veterans break the cycle of homelessness. In addition to providing our vets with the shelter they need, this program offers employment opportunities and recovery programs in order for them to rebuild their lives.

Bonnie Brae

Bonnie Brae, established in 1916, is located on a beautiful campus in Basking Ridge, NJ. It remains one of the nation's preeminent therapeutic learning environments for troubled adolescent boys who have been neglected, abused, or abandoned.

Morris County Organization for Hispanic Affairs

MCOHA's activities and programs center on transportation, home weatherization, personal computer training, social services, job counseling, immigration, citizenship, and health education.

Somerset Home for Temporarily Displaced Children

Somerset Homes has been helping vulnerable youth throughout New Jersey since 1970. Their clients represent all socio-economic backgrounds, races and ethnicities, and each year more than 500 young people find the support they need in one of the six Somerset Homes programs.

St. Clare's Hospital Foundation

Beginning in August 2006, the Foundation has pledged $100,000 over five years for the St. Clare's Hospital Miracles Campaign. These funds will be used to renovate and upgrade technology and facilities across all four campuses of the St. Clare's Health System.


Grassroots Activism

Over and above the benevolence of Affinity's foundation, the branch network is actively involved and committed to outreach within their local communities.

Flemington Branch

Hunterdon Hispanos
Hunterdon Hispanos provides Hispanic residents of Hunterdon County with increased access to information and resources.

Flemington Food Pantry
Flemington Food Pantry helps to serve the nutritional needs of families in the Flemington community.

Piscataway Branch

MIPH (Making it Possible to end Homelessness)
One of MIPH's three programs is Amandla Crossing, a year-long transitional housing program for single women and their children.

Denville & Dover Branches

Father John's Animal House (Sussex County Fellowship for Animals)
Father John's is a shelter for dogs and cats located in Lafayette, NJ that takes in animals that have been lost or surrendered by their owners.

Pathways for Exceptional Children
Located in Montville, Pathways is an organization devoted to advocating educational and social reform for children with disabilities, providing parent and family support services and education, and developing recreation and life skills programs for children with special needs.

Paramus Branch

Affinity Federal Credit Union Foundation
The Paramus branch works in tandem with the Credit Union's foundation's community partners.

Cedar Knolls Branch

Morristown Neighborhood House
Morristown Neighborhood House provides a community-based support system for children, families, and individuals who are confronting economic and social challenges by ensuring the existence of cultural, recreational, and educational programs.

Salvation Army
The Morristown Salvation Army administers to the spiritual and physical needs to help those facing hard times in Morristown and the surrounding area.

Country Mile Branch

St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center
St. Hubert's, located in Madison, NJ, is an animal shelter that provide a wide variety of programs that nurture the human-animal bond to foster an environment in which people respect all living creatures.

Hillsborough Branch

Hillsborough Food Pantry
Hillsborough Food Pantry provides nutritional assistance to township residents in times of financial crisis.

Resource Center for Women and Their Families
The Resource Center serves the victims of both physical and mental domestic abuse in Somerset County, providing protection, education, and numerous resources.

Middletown Branch

180 Turning Around Lives
180 Turning Around Lives provides services to anyone affected by domestic violence and sexual assault, as well as to provide training programs to civic, social services, and medical professionals in the community.

Bayshore Senior Health Education and Recreation Center
Bayshore is a recreational facility for seniors with health needs, housing problems, transportation issues, and for those who are lonely and would benefit from an outlet.

Camp Happiness
Camp Happiness is a summer camp located on the Sandy Hook Bay that provides free vacations for blind adults residing in NJ.

Basking Ridge Branch

Bonnie Brae
Bonnie Brae is a therapeutic residential learning environment for troubled adolescent boys who have been neglected, abused, or abandoned.

Community Hope's - Hope for Veterans Program
