As part of our ongoing commitment to education, Affinity offers two scholarship programs to our members. We take pride in helping our members and their children succeed with their educational goals. Be sure to check out our College Planning Center for lots more information about getting ready for college.

The Affinity Scholarship Program and the Richard A. Romano Scholarship Award promote scholastic excellence and continuing education. They offer merit-based awards to individuals based on overall academic achievement, community involvement, extracurricular activities, demonstrated leadership and an essay composition that best captures these qualities.


Affinity Scholarship Program

Eligibility

The Affinity Foundation offers a Scholarship Program to graduating high school seniors who are U.S. citizens or U.S. resident aliens and are members of Affinity in good standing. Applicants must be entering their freshman year and use the scholarship to attend an accredited two-year or four-year college or university. Affinity employees, board members, volunteers, and the families of employees, board members, and volunteers are not eligible to apply.

To be eligible, scholarship application packages must include all required information.
  • Completed scholarship application (download at right).
  • Applicant must have an Affinity membership in his/her own name (custodial accounts do not qualify).
  • Official high school transcript.
  • Copy of acceptance letter from college/university.
  • Resume/summary of extracurricular activities, honors, awards, community service, and work experience.
  • Two letters of recommendation from individuals not related to you.
  • Application essay - for additional details, please refer to the application form.

Applications can also be dropped off at any Affinity branch location. All applications, regardless of how they are submitted, must be recieved by 3:00 p.m. on Friday, April 30, 2010. Recipients will be selected at the end of June.

Richard A. Romano Scholarship Award

Eligibility

The Affinity Foundation Richard A. Romano Scholarship Award is offered to Rutgers University undergraduate students (entering freshmen, transfers and current students) who are members of Affinity in good standing. Scholarships are "one-time only" awards and payable for the 2010-2011 academic year. Affinity employees, board members, and volunteers, as well as their families, are not eligible to apply.
